Prologue Girl Concept Sketches 1

My 2nd Pass at this character--I'd rather not show you my 1st pass...it's quite horrendous.  Maybe as a joke one day.

A friend and I are working on a project of epic proportions.  He's working on creating this fantastical world he's been dreaming up for years in the writing department, and I'm trying to support this story in the visual department.  Let's just say that it involves Airships, Airship Pirates, a Totalitarian Empire attempting to rule or destroy everything...and most importantly--a WHOLE LOT OF FIGHTING!

This girl will appear in a prologue chapter, which will lay the foundations of the entire saga.  I was basically left with free reign in regards to design, and this is the first legitimate attempt I can show to the public and thus far.

But I could always use some feedback--let me know what you think!

GamePro Archives 3: Major Mike in Virtua Fighting

Major Mike thrashes Virtua Fighter 3tb, then successfully defends his thrashing.

I love this image--especially since I'm not such a fan of Virtua Fighter to begin with.  This GamePro illustration was derived from a letter where a Producer from Sega of America writes to Major Mike, expressing his disappointment in a poor review.  The game in question was Virtua Fighter 3tb, and Major Mike defends his lukewarm rating (3.5 out of 5.0 Fun Factor) by pointing out that this was a game that appeals strictly to fans of the series, and few else.

*Just in case of any copyright or any racial issues, I decided to change Jeffrey's hair and skin colors so no one is offended by a Major Mike backfisting him.

GamePro Archives 2: Scary Larry

The language of the original accompanying letter was no doubt rated "M" for "Mature."

Yet another editorial illustration from Francis Mao.  Someone sent in a letter full of expletives, so GamePro took the liberty of censoring the letter and providing four different lists of words to replace the expletives with: rated "E" for "Everyone", "T" for "Teen", "M" for "Mature" and "AO" for "Adults Only."  Needless to say, it did not win "Letter of the Month"... but it did provide a pretty hilarious page 22.

GamePro Archives 1: Sub-Zero Cinema

No cinematics for the N64 Version?!

A replica of an old editorial illustration from GamePro magazine.  I recently found out that the magazine officially went out-of-print as of this December, and the website followed shortly after, so this is my tribute to all the great times I had reading it over the years.

What do you think?  Does this drawing get a 5.0 Fun Factor rating? :)
